Desk and chairApplied Medical, Inc, (AMI) is a medically based company committed to providing quality rehabilitation services, industrial medicine services, and drug and alcohol programs throughout the United States and Canada.

Applied Medical, Inc was incorporated on December 31, 1996, with the home office located in Bismarck, North Dakota. Applied Medical, Inc acquired Southwest Physical Therapy which is located in Dickinson, North Dakota, January 1, 1997 and officially changed the name to Applied Medical, Inc in October of 2005 to better reflect the type of services AMI has to offer in Dickinson and the surrounding areas. Applied Medical, Inc has constructed a state of the art rehabilitation facility in north Dickinson. Applied Medical, Inc owns and operates a number of outpatient rehabilitation clinics in North and South Dakota.

The rehabilitation staff is comprised of professionals including occupational, physical, and speech therapists. Applied Medical, Inc's primary focus for rehabilitation is the area of outpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing facilities, hospital settings, school based environments, and industrial medicine accounts.

It is AMI's philosophy to utilize a consistent therapist per discipline to work with an individual or an account. AMI therapists work with the very young to the very young at heart and address all issues from orthopedic concerns, neurological concerns, development concerns, and acquired dysfunction. AMI therapists specialize in pre and post surgical rehabilitation, all joint replacement rehab, shoulder rehab, knee and hip rehab, back and neck problems, hand therapy, stroke rehab, pediatric rehab, swallow difficulties, language difficulties, lymphedema, manual therapy, sports medicine and myofascial release techniques.

Industrial Medicine Program (IMED)

The therapists are trained in the WorkWell Systems/Isernhagen Industrial Medicine Program with emphasis on functional capacity evaluations, functional job descriptions, functional job analysis, prework screen, pre-injury and post-injury assessment, and safety inservices. Industrial Medicine Services (IMED) programming is focused on workforce protection and workforce injury prevention. AMI rehabilitation professionals are trained to recognize workplace hazards and work practices that may cause workforce injury and significant workforce labor losses. AMI professionals are trained to suggest and implement IMED programs that reduce risk and hazards to industrial workers. Proper preventative procedures and safety practices, in conjunction with new employee screening techniques, reduce the industrial employer's exposure to the risks of workforce injury. AMI's goal is providing businesses of North and South Dakota with the opportunity to offer IMED programming including ergonomic analysis and training, injury prevention education, work site and work environment analysis, functional job analysis, functional job descriptions, and pre-work screening at an economical rate.

Applied Medical, Inc integrates the rehabilitation therapists into IMED accounts working as a close "partner" for the betterment of the facility and families involved in rehabilitation needs. AMI therapists are highly knowledgeable of billing procedures, regulations for proper therapy situations, and dedicated to being team players in the worker's recovery process.

Drug Testing Consortium Services

The newest service at AMI is a complete A to Z drug and alcohol testing consortium program. AMI clients have a choice of drug and alcohol policy review or development, reasonable suspicion supervisor training, employee training, drug and alcohol file audits and drug testing from one of three certified drug testing laboratories. AMI offers drug-testing services using rapid onsite screening devices, giving the client initial drug or alcohol test result in 5 minutes or less. AMI has certified drug and alcohol screen collectors in Dickinson, Bismarck, Minot, Fargo and Grand Forks. Additional collection services are available throughout the US. AMI has found that many clients like the "one stop shop plan" of a testing consortium. They rely on AMI's 18 plus years of experience in the testing industry for consulting, program setup, and administration.
