Neurological Therapy Services

In our everyday world we live in, accidents and illness can happen. At Applied Medical, Inc (AMI) we have developed a program designed to help patients with a variety of neurologic injuries, including spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, cerebral vascular accident, anoxia and brain tumors. AMI's program is tailored to meet the needs of the patients who have sustained severe brain injuries as well as those with mild brain injuries. Our caring team concept begins with a screening evaluation. Once this is done our team of physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech language pathologist develop a treatment plan and discuss this with the patients, their doctor and their family members.

AMI's program focuses on an integrated treatment delivery system with specialized assistance and training in the area of:

  1. Physical Restoration
  2. Cognitive Function
  3. Communication
  4. Social Interaction
  5. Family Training
  6. Independent Living Skills

Our physical therapist evaluates and treats impairments in a patients ability to perform functional activities such as sitting, standing, rolling, transferring, walking and using a wheel chair. Our physical therapist evaluates the patients motor and neurological status including muscle tightness, weakness, muscle tone changes, joint mobility, active movement, balance, coordination endurance and sensations.

Our Speech language pathologist evaluates and treats impairment in cognition, communication, swallowing and language. After a brain injury, a patient may have trouble remembering important information, concentrating on daily tasks and thinking or reasoning clearly. They may also have difficulty understanding what is said and have difficulty speaking clearly and meaningful. Our speech language pathologist will work with the patient and their families to develop specific skills and strategies to address these issues.

Our occupational therapist evaluates and treats each patients ability to perform activities of daily living. They further assess upper extremity sensory/motor function and visual function and identifies work, home and leisure modifications and assistive technology to the patient needs. AMI also employs the only Lymphedema Association of North America Certified Lymphedema Therapist west of the Missouri River.

If you or your family member are experiencing any of the above listed health issues, we at Applied Medical, Inc want to remind you that Helping Others Help Themselves isn't just a slogan, it's a commitment to our patients.
